"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go..."
--Psalm 32:8
- Hold On Tight PLEASE!
Kathy Ridpath (NC) -- Wednesday, 26 August 1998, at 10:02 p.m.
I was thinking about some of the messages I've been reading from homeschoolers going through some tough times with their homeschool. It seems like a hurricane is in our midst. When it comes to homeschooling -- What a difference experience makes ... experience doesn't make much of a difference.
- Getting off to a GOOD start! (And "Staying on Task")
William & Tamara Eaton -- Monday, 17 August 1998, at 7:56 a.m.
Public schools start back in our area this week so it's time to start keeping records again.... I trust you all woke up at the crack of dawn, kissed your husband, did aerobics, showered, got dressed in your prettiest "Homeschool Mom-Teacher" dress, powdered your nose, prepared a wonderful HOT breakfast for your family (who are all tidily dressed in matching outfits by now) and cleaned up the house so you could start the new school year off in tip-top shape! No?! Whew...well, there's still hope...thankfully, successful homeschool days don't depend on all those steps. *grin*
- "When Do We Get There?"
Kathy Ridpath -- Friday, 14 August 1998, at 8:53 p.m.
A common "encouragement" from veteran homeschooling parents is that homeschooling is not a sprint, but a marathon. It's the truth, not a myth. Really!
- "Be strong and of a good courage"
Kathy Ridpath -- Friday, 27 March 1998, at 2:59 p.m.
Do you ever feel discouraged, whether it has to do with your teaching, your parenting, your life, your walk with the Lord? I know I do.
- Be glad that you're homeschooling!
Ellen Stanclift -- Tuesday, 24 March 1998, at 5:49 a.m.
I used to teach Kindergarten many years ago. One year I had 34 students and no aide...and the vast majority of those children were dawdlers ! I used to circle the room, giving re-direction instructions as I'd go.
- Enjoying the 'teachable' moments that God gives us...
Ellen Stanclift -- Monday, 23 March 1998, at 7:25 a.m.
What should have been a ten minute break before we 'hit the books' again, has turned into the most amazing morning.
- Your Father has a plan and purpose just for YOU!
William and Tamara Eaton -- Sunday, 22 March 1998, at 5:41 p.m.
I'm so sorry you've felt hurt and sometimes rejected, but I pray that you will continue to find comfort in the acceptance of the Lord! He has a plan, purpose, and ministry that only you can fulfill!
- Anti-Homeschooling?
William and Tamara Eaton -- Sunday, 22 March 1998, at 12:51 p.m.
I'm not sure whether this will help (grin), but we've heard the following reasons not to homeschool over and over and over....
- Christian Character Training:Beyond "Minding Your Manners"
William and Tamara Eaton -- Friday, 20 March 1998, at 7:00 p.m.
Many homeschooling families consider good manners important, but we want to go beyond "minding our manners" and understand what it really means to demonstrate Christlike love and a servant's heart toward all, regardless of position, income, race, background or outward appearance.
- Time & Commitment not Worry & Doubt
Bob and Kathy Ridpath (NC) -- Friday, 20 March 1998, at 3:14 p.m.
Homeschooling is much more than a substitute for school academics. Homeschooling gives us needed time and strengthens our commitment to teach and train our children in the ways of the Lord.
- Homeschool and Housework!
William and Tamara Eaton -- Wednesday, 11 March 1998, at 5:54 a.m.
Managing homeschooling and housework and still having some time left over for yourself can definitely be a challenge at times.
- Curriculum Wars!
William and Tamara Eaton -- Tuesday, 10 March 1998, at 2:33 p.m.
When we first began to homeschool, there were few choices in curriculum and practically no homeschool curriculum developers at all. Homeschooling families were few and scattered so we rarely had the opportunity to discuss various curriculum or methods with peers. Instead we were forced to do the best thing possible --DEPEND ON GOD.
